The Need for Volunteers
In fiscal year 2012, the Forest Service reported that it accomplished at least some maintenance on about 37 percent of its 158,000 trail miles and that only about one-quarter of its trail miles met the agency’s standards. Trails not maintained to quality standards have a range of negative effects, such as inhibiting trail use and harming natural resources. The Washington State DNR must rely more on volunteers to help protect our natural resources, promote safe and enjoyable outdoor experiences, and maintain our recreation facilities and trails.
WAATVA Work Party
Join the ranks of dozens of other ORV riders who are planning on giving back to the trails this year by volunteering at a Washington ATV Association sponsored trail work party. WAATVA trail work parties are a cooperative venture between the Washington State Department of Natural Resources, Washington ATV Association, and volunteers like yourself.
Not able to make the WAATVA trail work party? No Problem. CLICK HERE to view the DNR’s Volunteer Calendar for other work party opportunities.
